The Mission of The Dream House

Through relationship and accountability, the mission of the Dream House is to provide young adults facing difficult challenges the opportunity to overcome barriers, heal from the past and grow in their God-given identity, laying the foundation for a fulfilling life.

How do we achieve our Mission?

We operate two programs to achieve our mission. Our primary program is our Supportive Housing Ministry in which we provide housing and supportive services for up to 5 young ladies and 3 children. We also support up to 10 other young adults and 10 children in the community through our Support Program. Male and female, these individuals and their children can benefit from relational support and encouragement which we provide to them in a myriad of ways.

-Positive environment to call home

-Discovery of their God-given identity

A deep look at their personalities and life experiences to gain a clear picture of who God created them to be and the specific call on their life

It all started with a DREAM...

Anthony and Shannon Shelly bought their duplex home on State Street in April 2018. They now reside in one half of the house and have dedicated the other side to The Dream House.

Before Anthony and Shannon were even married, God planted a dream on their hearts of starting a residential ministry for single moms or people in recovery. From their years of inner city ministry at Bethesda Mission Youth Center and Center for Champions, they learned that in order to see a wholistic transformation, people need to be immersed into a positive environment. God placed a burden on their hearts for the lost and broken and a deep desire to see them healed through a relationship with Jesus. They also both had a heart for the fatherless and began praying and slowly pursuing foster care. As they began that process, Shannon felt drawn to the older girls who would never get adopted. She tucked that away in her heart only for it to resurface when the complete vision for The Dream House came to her. They discovered that one in four PA youth who "age out” of the system experience homelessness, struggle with mental health challenges such as depression, substance abuse, and anxiety disorders, with nearly one in four youth having been arrested since leaving care.

Anthony and Shannon's hearts' desire is to create a place where young women who recently aged out of the foster care system or are battling homelessness can find healing through a relationship with Jesus, discover their dreams, and have the freedom and accountability to see them become reality.

The Dream House was originally formed as The Capital Area Dream House in August of 2018. We initially were operating as a "DBA" of another organization with the help of Richie Lewis and the Capital Area Dream Center. In January of 2022, we branched out and formed our own 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, PA Dream House, Inc. We are so grateful for the help of Richie and the Dream Center during our launch phase and we are excited that God has opened the door for us to form our own organization! Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us along the way!

Dream House Renovations

During the entire year of 2019, the Dream House underwent a dramatic renovation process. This was a perfect picture of the transformation that can happen when people come together and do something special. In this same way, we seek transformation for each young lady who resides in the house. Each supporter helps make this transformation possible!
